Tech for Seniors Volunteer Job Description 

Tech for Seniors is searching for reliable and trustworthy volunteers to join our organization. We seek volunteers who will join our mission to alleviate social isolation and loneliness using technology.  Our Tech for Seniors volunteers are digital navigators for our community.

As a volunteer you may be assigned to one of several roles in the Tech for Seniors programs.   Here are some examples:

  • Device Help: Setup Tablets for Users, Assist in managing distribution and inventory.
  • Answer User’s Questions via email or phone
  • Provide user assistance during TFS classes
  • Complete special projects including research and testing.

These roles do not require you to be a programmer, engineer, or rocket scientist. We are just looking for individuals who are reasonably comfortable with tablets or smartphones. We will offer training and the devices that you need to be successful.   Remember, our clients have likely had no previous experience with technology.  They are true beginners.  

The volunteer’s responsibilities include completing assigned tasks, upholding the organization’s values, and maintaining a high degree of professionalism with all staff and clients. You should arrive on time, follow instructions, and improve the overall operations of the organization.

To be successful as a volunteer, you should demonstrate active listening and problem-solving skills. Outstanding volunteers should be diligent, meticulous, and take pride in their work.

Volunteer Responsibilities:

  • Understanding your role and responsibilities as well as the rules and safety regulations of the organization.
  • Completing the relevant training and asking questions if you are uncertain about anything.
  • Completing your assigned duties and reporting any issues immediately.
  • Observing the rules and safety regulations of the Gifts for Seniors while carrying out tasks.
  • Arriving on time for duty and remaining professional in your interactions with all clients, volunteers and staff.
  • Making recommendations for improvement where feasible and appropriate. Your feedback is essential
  • Reporting on successes or challenges as we collaborate as a team.
  • Communicating with the supervisor or relevant stakeholders when you are running late or unable to fulfill your duties.

Volunteer Requirements:

  • Experience using smartphone or tablets for personal use.
  • Completion of relevant training on our programs and processes.  
  • A willingness to learn and work as part of a team for the good of our clients.
  • A high degree of professionalism and the ability to follow instructions.
  • Respect and diligence.
  • A personable manner.
