The Periodic Table App

If you enjoy science, especially Chemistry, this app is definitely up your alley. If not, the video is cute (see Periodic Table button) and take a screenshot of last picture in the article up in your room and impress your visitors with your new hobby. Combine this a picture of the Universe (see NASA) and information from Wikipedia and Alexa and your can do quite a bit of in depth exploring.

The first page displayed when you start the app is a basic periodic table. You can select the element of interest (in our case Oxygen) by pressing the element’s abbreviation with your finger.

The next picture shows the result of selecting Oxygen as our element [#1]. The screen now displays the element name, element #, weight, melting and freezing points [#2]. The chart is color coded for metal, metalloid and non-metal and the legend [#3] will bring up details on how each of these are classified.

The “Periodic Table” button on the screen above is a bit weird in that brings up a YouTube Video about the elements. It’s a short one..but cute – and you might be surprised how many elements are on the Periodic Table now.

If you had selected one of the selections in Legend section [#3] in a previous picture, then one of the following screens would have been displayed:

And finally, the “Detailed Periodic Table” button brings up a very impressive Periodic Table suitable for printing, framing or using as a coaster.
