Learning the Internet – where to go from here

Many of our Cohorts are looking forward to opening up their tablets to explore the World Wide Web (the “www.” part of the URL). This article provides a roadmap to prepare you for that adventure.

We encourage you to review 2 training videos and some practice to prepare for opening up your tablet to the internet.

The Intro to the Internet training can be found on the Resource Material (common area) under the Learning section. There is a lot of information in this training and we encourage you to do the entire course but the first section “Introduction” and the 3rd “Browsing the Web” are the key sections for you.

The Internet Hygiene 101 video is also in the list of Learning articles in the Learning section of the Resource Material as well. This short lesson will cover security and safety concepts and terminology.

Finally, the TFS Student app and Links for Seniors app has quite a bit of training material and exploring the content and structure of these apps will help you practice navigating the internet in the TFS Secure Environment. Why are there 2 apps which do roughly the same thing?

We intend to have a Zoom session in a few weeks to go over this information so reviewing it ahead of time will help you prepare for that session.
